Its 4:08am and I can't sleep so decided to update my blog for the week. Its been a pretty good weeek for me :o) work has been good, we started on the voucher books this week and so far we have had sales increases of 8 - 9%, its better to be busy rather than being bored at work and trying to find things for the staff to do, there is only so many times a cupboard can be cleaned out lol so the increase in business is welcome...I am missing Alan so much though, he has rang me every morning and his mum has rang twice. I posted in my last post about Alan and me praying over his application form for Top Shop well this week he had an interview which he passed and then on Friday he had an assessment day so was praying for him most of the morning (he rang me up and said you and those salvos had better be praying) it went really well and Alan rang me on Friday afternoon and said he had got a job, and that he didn't have to start all the way from the bottom but had missed out 2 steps in the job process and gone straight to a level 3 employee (whatever that is) and in 3 months would be eligible for promotion and a fast track to management...the firts thing I said was Thank you Jesus and Alan said the same thing too....and said He would be telling everyone that God had a hand. God is sooooo good and I give him all the glory..buzzin.
We found out the week before last that our Divisional commander Chick Yuill had resigned, I was pretty shocked to be honest. I don't have any opinions on his resignation as I don't know anything and I don't want to. All I know is that at Credo on Sunday (its a divisional celebration event) Chick was there as usual and Major Ian Fields thanked him for his leadership of the division...and then suddenly everyone got to their feet and applauded him for ages...it was a lovely way to show our support and I think most people were really moved.
Last Saturday went to Wesley Owen with Elaine and both bought a book by Bill Hybels called Just a walk across the room..basically its about having the courage to listen to the prompting of The Holy Spirit and being brave enough to take a step in sharing your faith. I have only read 3 chapters at the moment as I have had 2 other books on the go this week. Katie is one of our nicer customers who comes through the drive thru every single morning for a latte..she was asking about Alan on Thursday and I told her about his job interview and the assessment and that Alan and I had prayed really hard over his application form, and she was like wow and then told me that she sometimes prayed so I told her about us praying before his driving test and him passing.....and then we talked a bit more about church and stuff and I'm thinking thankyou Jesus...I know it was only a small conversation through the window and I never even invited her to church or told her she needed saving etc but it was a starting point for future conversations. We have a load of regular breakfast customers at Macs, I reckon it takes about a year before you get to know their name, then another few months before you find out what they do for a living and whether they have kids or not and then when you start getting birthday cards, and christmas presents and holiday presents you know you have made a new friend, its really good and the best part of the job is getting to that first step of finding out their name....I know it sounds a long time but I have to tell you we are only supposed to take 2 minutes from start to finish serving a customer and there are only so many words you can fit in between 'would you like milk and sugar with that' or 'is that a meal' etc...generally harassing the customer haha.
Our clubs at church are back in full swing...this week we had 31 kids to our 5 - 11 club and 9 to our youth club, out of the 9 at youth club only 1 of them comes to church regularly...and most of the kids that come to the younger club don't come to church either...so we have lots of potential there. Had a really long chat this week with one of the mums who told us that her mum has cancer, chatted for ages and ended up telling her that we as a church would pray really hard for healing and told her about our John at church who has been healed of cancer (I will post about that soon) it was just another chance again to share a bit of our faith and again God gets all the glory and thanks.

Thank you for sharing some good news about John, give him my best wishes, also your CO's.
Warmest blessings, Eleanor
I know we don't know each other, but I have to say that I find it a bit discouraging that you don't want to know why your DC resigned. If we care about the church, wouldn't it be important to us to know why one of our leaders found it necessary to walk away from it?
Tim
When I say I don't want to know why he resigned, this doesn't mean that I don't care because I do. His reasons for resignation are personal to him, the best thing I can do is uphold him and Margaret in prayer and not encourage discussion/hearsay on my blog.
thanks
Lindsay
